Thankfully, I can finally say this guide is complete, and can move on to other things. But for those of you who just got the game, or are wondering which items you missed, feel free to read through this guide and find out what you need. That's what the guide's here for. With that said... Enjoy the list! :) ********************* *:2: Version Updates* ===================== (2vers) 2.51: 6-23-03: Fixed a small error thanks to Rikard Hedman. Added one more thing to the Transferring to GS:TLA section. ----- 2.5: 6-11-03: Updated contact info. Added Feathered Robe to the list of what you should transfer. ----- 2.4: 6-5-03: Golden Sun Revisited I added RNG methods. Don't know what those are? Check the section. Plus I went through and added what the unleashes' elements are. Besides the actual content update above, I did 3 things. 1: The version updates section is small for the first time in the history of this guide. 2: Reformatted 90% of the guide. Also relocated the shop listings. 3: Cropped out lots of the introduction above and actually put the info cropped inside the specific sections. This guide is basically complete now. Have fun. *************** *:3: Artifacts* =============== (3art) Artifacts are the special items. They're FAR better then the regular items sold at shops. 99% of the weapon artifacts also have unleashes, which are extra-powerful attacks that only happen part of the time. These extra- powerful attacks are always based on an element, which I have included next to the unleash name. The more power you have in the element that the unleash is based on, the more damage the unleash will do. Special effects the unleash may have are in parenthesis next to the unleash name. Multi-hit means sometimes it strikes for a little over the default damage and sometimes the unleash strikes for a LOT more then the default damage. Also, there's an Artifacts section in shops where the shop sells artifacts they may have found. ----- NOTE: Item drops are rare items that you may find after a battle if a specific monster was in the battle. Check the RNG list at the bottom for sure-fire methods to get the rare item drops you've always wanted. ----- NOTE: If an artifact/whatever says "It may break if used," it does not mean it may break if you equip it, but it may break if you do it's special function (IE Blessed Mace's 200 HP restore). You can still equip them and attack without any worries. ----- NOTE: When I put "(cursed)" next to an item, that means it is cursed. When equipped, your character will sometimes be "bound and unable to move." You also can't unequip it unless you see a Sanctum priest. You can equip the Cleric's Ring to stop yourself from being bound and unable to move, but you still won't be able to unequip it without going to a Sanctum. ==================== -Weapon Artifacts: They're called RNG methods because they manipulate the random-number generator in-game which decides whether or not to give you the item. What I want to know is how it's random if you can manipulate it, but nevermind... There's two RNGs, the "Battle" RNG which decides what happens in battle, and that's the one we're messing with. There's several things you should know before you start trying these RNGs. One is the types of enemies you should encounter. You ALWAYS need two enemies-one would be the monster that drops the item, the other would be whatever, it doesn't matter. You also need to use the hard-reset rule. You turn the GameBoy Advance off and on whenever a battle does not work out the way you want it to. You'll always get the same first battle each time you hard-reset, which is why I tell you which room to save in. Soft-resetting (holding A+B+Start+Select) doesn't work. I also tell you which order to put your characters in. You can get the characters in that order by (un)equipping the Turtle Boots, Running Shirt/Quick Boots, the Feathered Robe if you have one, the Elven Shirt, and (un)setting Djinn. This is not the order they appear on screen, this is actual ATTACK order. I used the base classes with these RNG methods-Lord, Champion, Magister, and Paragon. These are the pure-element classes (I.E. Isaac has all Earth Djinni, Garet all Fire, etc.). I used a level 51, all-Djinni obtained party when writing these RNG methods. Credit goes to Jairrame for showing me how to find some of the parties after a hard reset. The methods will tell you what you should do. Save where they tell you to, put your characters in the right order, and then hard reset. If you're having problems, check the troubleshooting section below. ------------------------ Kikuichimonji Attack +128, dropped by Fenrirs in the top floors of the Venus Lighthouse, worth Uleashes Asura, Jupiter-based Order: Ivan, Isaac, Garet, Mia. Save in the room described by the Kikuichimonji RNG. Hard reset, and go up the left stairs into the room with electricity. Run around in there and you'll get a party of an Earth Golem and Gnome Wizard. Target the Earth Golem. Round 1: Isaac -Quake. Garet -Fire. Ivan -Whirlwind. Mia -Tundra. Round 2: Isaac -Quake. Garet -Fireball. Ivan -Unleash Squall. Earth Golem flashes and dies. Mia -Attack other enemy. Other enemy dies. If it doesn't, keep attacking it until it does. You got Aura Gloves! ------------------------ Prophet's Hat Defense +30, dropped by Dread Hounds in Altmiller Cave, worth 4600 coins Use to predict being downed, but may break if used (note: It "predicts being downed" by drawing the Spirit of Death to a foe when used) Order: Isaac, Garet, Mia, Ivan. Save in the "puzzle room" in Altmiller Cave. It's the room which is actually _lighted_, and where you get a Djinni. Save there and then hard reset. You should get an enemy party of two Dreadhounds. It doesn't matter which one you target really, but just target the first one unless otherwise specified. Round 1: Isaac -Quake. Garet -Flare. Mia -Frost. Ivan -Whirlwind. Round 2: Isaac -Quake. Garet -Flare. Mia -Unleash Sleet. Dreadhound flashes and dies. Ivan -Attack other enemy. Other enemy dies. If it doesn't, keep attacking it until it does. You got a Prophet's Hat! ------------------------ Healing Ring Restores 70 HP, found in chest in Tret Tree/dropped by Nightmares, worth 800 coins May break if used in battle Order: Ivan, Garet, Isaac, Mia. Save in the first room in the Venus Lighthouse ENTRY-the part you can walk up to on the map. It's the short little room with a scholar lying on the floor. Save there and then hard reset. You should get an enemy party of two Nightmares-target the first one. Round 1: Ivan -Whirlwind. Garet -Fire. Isaac -Earthquake. Mia -Frost. Round 2: Ivan -Whirlwind. Garet -Fire. Isaac -Unleashes Flint. Nightmare flashes and dies. Mia -Attack other enemy. Other enemy dies. If it doesn't die, keep attacking it until it does. You got a Healing Ring! ------------------------ Lucky Medal Used in the Tolbi Springs minigame Order: Isaac, Garet, Ivan, Mia In the screen right before entering the Babi Lighthouse, push the right torch to open up a ladder. Go down that ladder, save, and hard reset. Then go up and down that ladder twice, and finally up a final time. Run around until you encounter two Orc Lords. Target the first one. Round 1: Isaac -Earthquake. Garet -Fire. Ivan -Whirlwind. Mia -Tundra. Round 2: Isaac -Earthquake. Garet -Fire. Ivan -Unleash Squall. Orc Lord flashes and dies. Mia -Attack other enemy. It dies. If it doesn't, keep attacking it until it does. You got a Lucky Medal! ------------------------ Troubleshooting w/ RNG Methods: So you can't get them to work? Most likely your problem (and the solution) will be stated below. 1. You didn't read the introduction to this section. Go read it. Now. 2. An enemy had a move before you finished off the creature that drops the item with a Djinni. You need more agility, because they CANNOT go before you kill it. 3. You didn't kill the enemy when you unleashed the Djinni. Feel free to use a higher-powered spell (I.E. Earthquake instead of Quake), but don't whine if that doesn't work either. Please. 4. You killed off the second enemy before killing the first one with a Djinni. Lower the power of your spells. 5. After you killed the main enemy with a Djinni, you attacked the other enemy and it didn't die. Then you defended with everyone until you got to the fourth person and then attacked it. Don't do that. If it doesn't die on the second turn, attack it with everyone. **************************** *:9: Transferring to GS:TLA* ============================ (9trans) There are only seven items really worth transferring to GS:TLA. These are... 1: Warrior's Helm 2. Storm Gear 3. Elven Shirt 4. Cleric's Ring 5. Lure Cap 6. Feathered Robe 7. Orb of Force Those and some Hyper Boots/Mythril Shirts. Everything else is outclassed in the next game. I'm not saying to strip your characters down of all their equipment and send them along w/ nothing but those seven items... I'm just saying that you should be sure to have those in your party as you transfer. And while you're at it, be sure to get all 28 Djinn in this game and trigger the five events (Winning the Colosso, saving Hsu, saving Hammet, finding out that the Vault thieves escaped, and beating Deadbeard). ******************** *:10: Shop Listings* ==================== (10shop) This is a list of what each shop sells, the stats of that item, and what you pay for it. -Vale: Weapons: ---Long And no, I won't allow it to be used on your website either, the ONLY site I am allowing to host this is GameFAQs.com. http://www.gamefaqs.com The ONLY things you can do with this guide are: 1. Direct people to it. 2. Print it out for your own personal use (I don't particularly care if you show it to a friend, but don't claim it as your own). 3. Save this document on your computer in case you don't want to print it out but need a quick reference. 4. I don't particularly care if you post stats from this FAQ to satisfy some curious person or to compose a "Best Equipment List" or anything like that, so long as you include a 1-sentence blurb stating something to the effect of "Stats taken from BlackMaurader's Item List." That's IT. I will NOT allow any other website to host it, so don't ask. If you know of someone who's done the stuff I mentioned above, drop me a line at blackmaurader [at] hotmail [dot] com and I'll get to it. Thanks in advance. :) ************** *:12: Credits* ============== (12cred) Me, BlackMaurader, for writing this thing. ----- CJayC, for wasting a few precious minutes of his time to put this FAQ up and update it time and time again. ----- Kevin Lankhorst, for pointing out that the Isaac's Revenge site plagiarized my FAQ. I've decided to delete the link because people would probably want to see what the site did and thus give it more hits even if they did boycott it later. :/ ----- Jairrame, for showing me how to find the monsters for some of the RNGs. ----- Ness47x, for informing me that Thunder Lizards drop the Blessed Mace. ----- Terence Fergusson, for correcting my spelling of the Kikuichimonji, and allowing me to use his list of elemental normal attacks. ----- Linkthemadbomber, for informing me where you got the Frost Jewel. ----- David Edemeka, for info about the: Cocktail Dress, Battle Gloves, Guardian Armlet, and Grievous Mace (all Tolbi Springs Items) ----- Shinkuu, for sending me something about the Cocktail Dress. ----- AimishCellphone, for providing the selling price of the Glittering Tiara. ----- Joan Reid, for providing data about the War/Adept Rings. ----- Myau, for data about the War Ring and Oracle's Robe. ----- PCGibson2000 of the GameFAQs message board, for mentioning something about the Elven Shirt so I could go back and get it. ----- reimeiken and CrimsonAce4, for first notifying me about Chimera Mages dropping Spiked Armors instead of Boulder Beasts (and yes, I did check this myself, and yes, it's true). ----- Lan Huang, for info about the Feathered Robe. ----- DarkPanther, for releasing his "Djinni Kill" trick. I owe 90% of my rare drops to that. In a pre-RNG 100% rare drop world, this trick was a life- saver. ----- death_eye for pointing out two items I forgot on my Tolbi Springs Other Items listing. I forgot to put the Potion and Water of Life in. ----- Peter Moore, for wasting his time to notice that I didn't mark the Demon Mail cursed. ----- Rikard Hedman, for noticing that I marked the effect of the _unleash_ "Curse" instead of "Haunt." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~BlackMaurader~~ Contributer Recognition: http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/14558.html
